GREENWICH, CT - Firefighters made quick work of a dryer fire that erupted in a two-family home on Nicholas Avenue in western Greenwich Sunday afternoon.

It was about 1:20 p.m. when firefighters from the Horse Neck, Glenville, North Street and Cos Cob stations were dispatched to the home where a resident arriving home saw smoke coming from a second-floor window, according to Greenwich Deputy Fire Chief Tom Nixon. A resident of the first-floor was home at the time.

The fire was contained to the dryer, however, the second floor was damaged by smoke, Nixon said. Firefighters removed the appliance from the house. No one was injured.

Nixon said the residents are able to remain in the 31 Nicholas Ave.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating. Firefighters remained on the scene for about an hour.
