Longtime local volunteer Mary Hull was recognized in Greenwich on Friday, which First Selectman Camillo named “Mary Hull Day.”

In a proclamation, he noted that Ms. Hull exemplifies the spirit of Dave Theis, in whose name the David N. Theis Award was established by the Glenville Volunteer Fire Company.

The award honors the memory of Mr. Theis and commends those who go above and beyond helping the community of Greenwich.

Hull has been a tireless volunteer in Greenwich for decades, giving her time and hard work on behalf of numerous organizations.

She has truly helped put the “green” in Greenwich as a driving force behind Greenwich Green & Clean, an organization that has done so much to not only beautify our Town but maintain it through community cleanups and advocacy as well as through educating Greenwich’s public and private school students about the environment and climate change.

Further, Hull has shared her lifetime of wisdom and expertise with many other organizations in Greenwich, helping them thrive, and demonstrating for all to see how the social fabric of Greenwich is woven by its dedicated volunteers.

She represents what is best about Greenwich and has demonstrated the kind of community spirit and love of our Town that also inspired David Theis.
