Texas man killed on I-95 crash in Greenwich

A Texas man has been identified as the person killed in a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 in Greenwich Wednesday night.

Manuel Carlos De Penda, 58, of Bulverde, Texas was fatally injured in the crash near Exit 4 at 9:27 p.m.

De Penda was a rear seat passenger in a 2014 Honda Accord driven by Manpreet Singh, 22, of Queens Village, N.Y.

Sgt. Robert Derry of Troop G in Bridgeport said the crash involved three vehicles.

According to the accident report, two vehicles were traveling north in the center lane on I-95.

The first vehicle was a 2016 Ford Focus Titanium, driven by Tai Kwok Poon, 61, of MilfordBehind the Focus was a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Rosaura Cruz, 61, of Norwalk.

The Honda Accord, was traveling in the left lane and then changed into the center lane, striking the rear of the Chevy Cruze.

The force of the impact caused the Cruze to strike the rear of the Focus.

The Honda then began to rotate counter clockwise and came to a rest facing southbound in the right lane.

De Penda sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Cruz and a female passenger, also from Norwalk, in her vehicle were taken to Stamford Hospital for minor injuries.

Poon, the driver of the Ford Focus, owned by Bridgeport Lobster and Shellfish, sustained possible injuries.

Singh was not injured.

After the accident, all lanes were closed with northbound traffic detoured off the highway through local Greenwich streets and then back on the highway at Exit 5
