Pedestrian Killed on West Putnam Was a Man in His 80s

On Tuesday morning, Greenwich Police released an update on the pedestrian who was hit by a car while crossing West Putnam Ave on Monday night.

According to a release from Lt. John Slusarz of the Traffic Division, a Port Chester man in his 80s was crossing West Putnam Avenue at the intersection of Western Junior Highway at around 6:30pm when he was struck by a car and suffered serious injuries.

The man later died at Greenwich Hospital. The driver of the car immediately stopped and, along with a witness, rendered aid to the pedestrian.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Traffic Section of the Greenwich Police Department.

The pedestrian’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.
